Professional fisherman Jeff Kolodzinski unofficially broke his own world record for most fish caught in a 24-hour period September 10 at Sankoty Lakes in Spring Bay.
Simultaneously, and most importantly, the angler also raised more than $20,000 for Fishing for Life a charity that benefits children of military families and those from impoverished backgrounds, a cause near and dear to Kim Blickenstaff and Dwayne Atherton, the two friends working on the Woodford County fishing and camping development.
The new world mark will have to be certified and sanctioned by the Guinness Book of World Records, but that would seem likely as the “Marathon Man,” Kolodzinski, obliterated the previous mark of 2,172 fish caught with some 2,645 bluegill, crappie, bass, perch, etc. pulled from the depths of what now has been dubbed Sankoty’s Giving Lake. Kolodzinski himself had achieved that earlier milestone at Canton’s Giant Goose Ranch in 2019.
